About Me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Allison and I just made it through my third half marathon, this time a trail race, using the ChiRunning technique in FiveFinger KSOTrek shoes.
While running, reading, and cooking are my hobbies, I am also an English and Spanish teacher at a local public high school. I am married to an amazing man who supports me in my alternative lifestyle choices and actually participates in many of the changes I have recently made to my diet. On this blog, I write about my adventures in minimalist running and the successes and stumbles of my grain-free diet. The Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) nutritional program has changed my life and allowed me to be a better athlete than ever before, even though it has been very difficult and required much perseverance.
I also am a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation and follow the health principles promoted by the foundation’s president, Sally Fallon, in her educational cookbook Nourishing Traditions. This blog is dedicated to the idea that true health is not something that can be obtained or purchased, but must be fought for slowly and deliberately. For me so far it has taken practice, patience, dedication, and hope, and I’m enjoying the journey.
To read the background story of how I first got to be passionate about healthy running, eating, and living, see “My Running Story” above. Thanks for stopping by.
